Welcome to the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 specifications and showroom review for 2022. Due to various global issues aka pandemic, other priorities and diversion into tech reviews I didn’t have a chance to write about some new release motorcycles (other than the Suzuki Hayabusa) over the past 2 years. As a result I hope to get back into the usual routine over the next few months.

Husqvarna is not a familiar Swedish motorcycle brand in the normal world and many we be confused with the Husqvarna brand of sewing machines. The commonality between the two is that are from the same town incidentally called ‘Husqvarna’… Like many long lived brands the ownership has changed a few times over the years including a brief stint by BMW motorcycles and then KTM.

Husqvarna motorcycles has managed to survive and usually been associated with off road competition motorcycles but it has only just released road going models. The result of this build up is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 a Scrambler, MT-o1, VTR, Monster like looking road bike. It is only unfortunate that it doesn’t have a more individual design. Regadless I think it looks great in pictures and even better in real life so much so I even enquired about pricing. I was surprised that it has a reasonable price tag despite being a Swedish brand (see below).

Svartpilen 401 engine and technical specifications is class standard so you get the single cylinder, EFI and ABS brakes. The engine makes decent power and torque so it’s specs are not it’s selling point. The build quality is also more impressive than some more popular 400cc motorcycles in the class.

Is the Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 worth buying? The simple answer is Yes! It looks good carries a less known brand yet has European cred – important for new riders and commuters to feel that they are owing some a bit more unique and special. The Svartpilen 401 is also LAMS and learner compatible.
