23 August 2009 – 2nd Gen Suzuki Hayabusa long term review – Part 15

After 18 months of Suzuki Hayabusa ownership although I have not traveled too many kilometers I can report that its been absolutely reliable!

Of note the fuel consumption has decreased for an average of between 6.5 low 7’s. I never used the lower power settings during this time. It is noticeable since I was getting high 7 and 8 for the last few months. Since its cold around here the readings include the warming up cycle.

The Bridgestone BT-015 rear tyre definitely lasts longer than the original’s BT56s. So I quite pleased about that – and so would you!
The suspension seems to have softened just a tad but that could just me getting used to the initially harder and what I think now as better and responsive handling. It is not the love hate relationship I have with true sports motorcycles. It is a compromise but probably a much better setup than other much softer sporty touring when you want to do some proper cornering.

My 2nd generation Hayabusa is also much better cared for than the original – this one rarely gets parked in direct sunlight and is covered between rides. So the finish is obviously lasting very well. So far so good which I guess – makes ownership enjoyable.
