One of the less known brands is CFMOTO in Australia and else where in the world except for China it’s home market. Following on from my first look at the 150Nk I decided to continue my examination of the next model up, the 400NK. The CFMOTO 400Nk is still a leaner or LAMS class motorcycle and more appropriately a commuter aka any type of motorcycle rider.

The 400cc motorcycle class either naked or sports bike style is not popular in Australia. It was formerly too powerful to overcome learner motorcycle restrictions before LAMS and now too expensive as they rare priced too close to the 600cc class. You can blame that on the manufacturers charging too much due to the former learner restrictions. In 2017 these restrictions have been lifted and now we have a few note worthy 400cc motorcycles to choose from and that now includes the 400NK!

The CFMOTO 400NK is a good looking motorcycle seemingly inspired by Kawsaki. I believe it was Kawasaki because their styling department has only recently and tentatively moved beyond the stereotypical remove the fairing for a naked approach. It’s not a bad thing that CFMOTO have done it’s just not moving design forward, like Yamaha with the MT series or MV Augusta and Honda. They need to get some free thinking artists and designers!

The 400Nk is a very well specified for a motorcycle costing under $6000 AUD. The build quality looks great and materials likewise equal to many other costing more.  There is nothing that I could fault from a showroom prospective which is exactly what the 400Nk is seemingly all about. Would I buy and 400NK? yes if I there is more information about longer term ownership experience but at that price that isn’t the primary concern for me, it’s because there is one other motorcycle that I prefer and one which I’ve reviewed previously, the Honda CB400.
