CFMOTO 650NK

Continuing on from last weeks ‘s look at the 400NK here’s the specifications and review of the 650NK. The 650NK is currently the largest capacity motorcycle in the CFMOTO range and it is also has a LAMS approved, power restricted version. Although it has the larger 650cc engine it apparently still shares the same block and frame as the smaller capacity 400NK. This is definitely a commuter class motorcycle, just look at the design and specs!

There are an increasing number of motorcycles built for the 650cc class, Kawasaki, Honda models comes to mind as I write this post. The reason of this is unknown to me, probably some legal stuff? What is odd to me is that CFMOTO have provided a 650cc version that is LAMS or learner compatible and restricted, as well a 400cc version that can be purchased for nearly $1000 less. ABS is also available as options but unlike cars I don’t think it will be a selling point if you know how to ride a motorcycle in the first place.

The 650NK is a good looking motorcycle no matter what angle and that overcomes the first selling point. The specs and build quality is also pretty good too so under the fairing panels there is nothing significant to detract from looking further into buying one as I did. Due to it’s reasonable price you can expect some cheaper materials synch as the alloy looking parts but intimately plastic. However the 650NK’s fit is finish is pretty good. It’s not a bad thing just don’t want to build expectations of a real sports bike body, parts or quality.

The 650NK is priced approx $6500 dependent on whether ABS is optioned and that is a fair price to pay since for a ‘limited time’ includes in road costs. Since it is significantly cheaper than the Kawasaki 300 Ninja if you had a full motorcycle license this is better motorcycle to buy. However if you had a restricted license or leaners I can easily recommend the 400NK above the 650 since you might as well save over $1000.  As a commuter 650NK motorcycle would be perfect! CFMOTO just needs to work on it’s branding and extending its warranty to get more people interested.
