Foundation Galactic Frontier – The Gram

Welcome to the continuing video game review of Foundation : Galactic Frontier. (Feb 2026) In this part I’m reviewing The Gram, it’s your home base, space ship and is the primary setting for your adventures in the Foundation universe. In game history says the name means ‘Invisible Blade’ and made by the Vault Union and it’s harmless appearance hides its unlimited capabilities. It has a tad of a John Berkey inspired look to it.
The design of the Gram fits into the Foundation TV series universe perfectly but in my eyes it is a little too deliberately odd by being unsymmetrical. That said there are other ships you can acquire in the game to add as part of your personal fleet and yes you can decide which one will be your primary home base or flagship. There is just sufficient in game narrative for those who like to get hung up in game law or canon. Space ships of similar design in the Foundation TV series that look like the Gram are called the ‘Commercial Jumpship’ or the ‘Imperial Jumpship Rubicon’ or even the ‘Aegis Warship’, Note they travel vertically rather then horizontal as in the game.
The Gram is upgradeable by adding crew with special abilities, upgraded weapons, engines, shields, power plant and so forth. What I didn’t expect is that you can also add you own fleet of smaller defending ships. The Tech tree for the Gram and its fleet is long in upgrades and time it takes to get there! Thankfully some of the upgrades are not limited to just the Gram. It’s like a village in space.
The Gram also serves as an interior design template for all ship choices. The interior is broken up into the various sections that comprise what you would expect in a typical space ship design. Strangely there is no central control or ship bridge as per Star Trek or indeed the ships in the Foundation TV series. I guess they have left it to your imagination for that. The layout (as per image) is easy to navigate and select, however not all are available at the same time and they eventually unlock as you complete the in-game tasks.
The Gram is there to mange your crew, upgrade your weapons collect resources, manage game events , guild activities and of course the in game shop where you collect your daily drops and can spend real money. It is overall a very common game structure with a good level of detail to get new starters into this sort of game genre and into the Isaac Asimov’s Foundation universe.
In terms of developing some sort of attachment to The Gram design (and therefore game) aka in the vein of the Enterprise in Star Trek, no there is no development of the history of ship itself or indeed into a character of its own. Maybe that may come in time. And do I think it needs it? Yes to catch many players who need that connection to get into the game apart from the overall story line and game universe.
So far, Foundation Galactic Frontier – the game is still worth playing as a free player and possibly paying player. Due to the grinding nature of the game, paying for extra resources and time does have its rewards but I feel adding the ability to purchase skins (like other popular games) apart from the 3 models is the way forward.
