Honda Africa Twin CRF1000L

The one model missing from the Honda lineup was a motorcycle that could compete with the adventure motorcycles like the BMW 1200GS series and even the Yamaha Terene has been missing. The market for these models or models to choose from isn’t exactly setting the world of motorcycles on fire but the marketing via numerous TV adventure shows have lifted BMW motorcycles and in particular the 1200GS profile.

Finally, Honda has joined the ranks Adventure class with the reborn Africa Twin. They didn’t just update one of their existing models but incorporated a ton of features you would not expect.  There’s the full LCD gauges, the latest LED head lights all round, dual front disc brakes, ABS and adjustable torque control, height adjustable seat and automatic dual clutch transmission! Yes, the Africa Twin is either a 6 speed regular manual or can be used as a 6 speed automatic transmission with dual clutches.

The new Africa Twin looks like a decent new adventure motorcycle or even a dual purpose commuter thanks to the Auto mode and weekend adventure bike. The price estimates around $16,000 is not too bad either for the spec you are getting. I can’t wait to give it a go.

The Africa Twin is in Australian Showrooms some time in March 2016.
