Honda NX500

Welcome to the Honda NX500 motorcycle specifications and showroom review for 2026. The 500cc adventure motorcycle class is the latest niche that all the Japanese motorcycle manufacturers are targeting. While the NX500 has been around for 18 months it was only late last year I decided that I need really check this one out at the shops. 

The NX500 is the SUV variant CBR500R which is a decent motorcycle to start with, so the engine and tech on the NX500 should be pretty decent as well. Of which the tech package is indeed a cut and paste except for the addition switchable traction control of off road riding on the NX500. The engine produces decent power  for a 471cc, even with 2 cylinders but torque is decent – so clearly no power competitions being played out in the category as the Kawasaki KLE500 engine makes the same numbers. 

In terms of looks the Honda NX500 is a good looking and well proportioned adventure motorcycle in the style of the rally racers. While it doesn’t look like the Africa Twin, one of the best looking adventure bikes in 2026 the NX500’s smaller proportions looks good for average sized riders. It may be bordering on generic styling but it should look as ‘new’ in 10 years as per it’s CBR500R donor. 

Is the NX500 worth buying or at least doing some further research, will be the main question if you are looking for an affordable new motorcycle from a major brand then yes. If you are after a alternative to sports bike styling then the NX500 is also worth considering. The final point of note is that the Honda NX500 falls under the LAMS threshold, so learner riders can ride it and a cheeky rider could possibly lighten it for some hidden performance (as starters) – when the time comes.
