Italjet Dragster 125 and 200

Italjet Dragster 125 and 200

Welcome to the 2020 Italjet Dragster 125 and 200 specification page. I’ve been meaning to add this news to the website for some time but holidays got in the way. Italjet as a brand hasn’t been in the scooter market for quite awhile and was a surprise at the 2019 EICMA show in production form. The new Italjet Dragster is striking to look at and will appeal to the style conscious.

In terms of design the 2020 Italjet Dragster 125 and 200 looks like a modern relative of the original Dragster from the 1990’s. Like the original, the new Dragster shows off it’s trellis frame, reportedly made of a chrome alloy used on the ultra light bicycles as per those in the Olympics. Clearly the new Dragster was a designer’s dream since everything on show just like a naked motorbike. Ie. All the parts deliberately to look good! I’ve seen the overall design theme before but not in scooter form and it translates very well indeed. Great looking scooter and arguably the best to date.

In terms of engine and technical specifications the Italjet Dragster uses all the latest tech, LED lights, fancy frame work, single sided swing arms, high tech and reasonably eco friendly engine. The suspension system is worth a note as it’s dual shock and disc brakes setup. There isn’t a instrument panel on show yet but I presume it will be mobile phone style design.

Scooters in all automotive markets in the world are not regarded as a category of motorbike. Scooters are regarded as lower than entry level to regular motorbike despite having the same build  criteria. Most people believe that Scooters are for couriers and people who can’t afford a regular motorcycle or car. That is clearly a stupid opinion since they have never seen the price list of a new Vespa! I do regard them as a motorbike, simply another style or class just like the Cruiser or the Adventure motorcycle class.

I think the 2020 Italjet Dragster is a cool looking scooter and high performance one in the class that’s for sure. Unfortunately there are a few competitors in the ‘good looking small capacity’  motorbike class and that includes the Honda GROM and the Honda Monkey just to name two. Since it is unlikely the new Italjet Dragster will be in the same price bracket it’s going to be in a very  niche market.
