Lenovo Tab 3 A7-10 7 inch review – Part 1

Lenovo Tab3 A7

Some times you just need ‘cheap and cheerful’ technology and that’s exactly why I bought this new tablet.  Welcome to my full review of the Lenovo Tab 3 A7-10 7 inch Android OS tablet (TAB3-710F). It’s a multi-part series as I’ll probably have a few things to say about it.

I got the Lenovo Tab3 as my 8 year old Multi-Gig iPod finally played it’s last song in the car so needed a replacement. Naturally I looked at accessible replacements such as my old iPhone 4S about 4 years old it’s still hanging in there but it’s a bit of a slug in terms of speed and with a mere 5 Gig of free space and no expansion memory SDcard there is not enough to storage room for my playable music collection. It’s not that I want to play all my music but sometimes it nice to break out the ancient tunes.  I could have used my any phone for bluetooth music streaming but the quality is not up to even my very normal standards. That said only the music streamed from a Sony Xperia Ultra sounded good in any car.

I looked at other devices for music and disregarded them very quickly, eg. new iPod Touch or Nano but they are very expensive for tiny memory and sound quality not as good as my old iPod. The inability to create play lists was also an issue along with the car that did not have Apple Play or Android Play compatibility.  I also considered a cheap new mobile phone with expandable memory priced under $200 I could keep in the car as a dedicated music player and nearly bought one but I thought why? if I could buy a cheaper tablet with a larger screen that could be used to entertain other passengers in the car if need?

There are plenty of really cheap tablets, specifically Andriod OS based to choose from but they all have flaws, mostly screen image and CPU power are so low it would be more annoying than a dead iPod. The only tablet that held may attention was the new Lenovo Tab3 A7-10 for a HD screen, build in GPS and the promise of Dolby Audio compatibility. The GPS and nicer screen where the main spec influencers and of course price!

The best features of the Lenovo Tab3 A7-10 Essentials are:

Screen image quality: Very good for the price.
Speed: Very good for the price.
Usability: Very good for the price.
Sound quality output via Bluetooth: OK quality.

Lenovo Tab 3 A7-10 problems (no surprise) are:
Missing the Dolby ATMOS App?
Built in speaker – mono and very tinny sound quality.
Built in headphone socket: good but no iPod quality.
Slow to start up.
Less that 4 Gigs for Apps without SD card.

Overall – Yes the Lenovo TAB3 7 inch tablet is definitely a cheap and definitely cheerful, a device that has a low price tag that exceeds expectations. Will need to get a Equalizer app to help the sound quality though…

All things considered though the Lenovo TAB 3 7 inch is the best and cheapest branded tablet you can buy for the $100 price tag.
