Livewire S2 Del Mar

Late 2022 Livewire announced their 2nd electric motorcycle model the S2 Del Mar. Yes I know my post is a bit late but I’ve been busy! The first thing I did when I read the announcement was to find out what was the meaning behind the model name.  Unsurprisingly there are a few, including the traditional Spanish translation of ‘Of the sea’ or the luxury beach side suburb in San Diego and to various slang. I presume that Livewire has left it a little ambiguous so it is arguably derived from slang.  

As per the Business Wire press release, the Launch Edition Livewire S2 Del Mar sold out in 18 minutes but although how many built was not stated in the release, it is estimated to be 100 units. Deliveries of the brand new motorcycle is expected to begin during Spring in the North hemisphere, so before June 2023. Regular customers will just have to wait for the general release. 

I do not know what the final specifications of the S2 Del Mar just yet – so wait and see. I also have no idea when it will be released to the rest of the world – if you don’t live in North America or the US. 

However I can elaborate about the Livewire S2 Del Mar design – and it looks great. Different from the Livewire One model and more Scrambler-esque style in profile. It also reminds me of the Fat bicycle look, you know the ones with fat tyres, which I think was the best antidote to the years of tyres getting wider and lower profile at least in terms of design.
