For 2025 Suzuki have released the sporty looking Suzuki Gixxer SF 250. It’s an interesting choice since LAMS has meant that most brands have been releasing larger bikes with power limiters or those with low specs to make retro and underpowered. Regardless it’s been awhile since Suzuki has sold a sporty looking entry level or commuter class motorcycle in decades.

Lets face it no matter what I or any other influencer says,  Kawasaki and the cheap Korean and Chinese brands have the entry level to entry level sporty looking bikes them selves. Kawasaki has the ancient but undefeatable Ninja series branding and the others, an assortment of models selling purely on price.

In terms looks which is the main selling point in this class, apart from price, the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 is a decent looking motorcycle and affordable model. However it’s styling is generic or anonymous, meaning if you take the badges off it could be from any other manufacturer. KTM motorcycles are the only brand that have managed to make their entry sport bikes look like no other.

In terms of engines and tech the Gixxer SF 250 is a pretty basic unit. It is claimed to be a newly designed 249cc engine but I haven’t researched it’s origins or development at the time of this post. It’s has decent power and torque for an engine of it’s size and notably claims better fuel economy than other 250cc class engines. Apart for them claim there isn’t any other tech particularly worth promoting.

Is the Suzuki Gixxer SF 250 still worth buying? The short answer is yes – definitely worth considering. The long answer is why the strange new name? Is it as I suspect just a marketing exercise? I presume it is because most people call their Suzuki sports bike Gixxers – Why? Suzuki doesn’t have a catchy name for their sports bikes – of course!  So if you want to complete your Suzuki sports bike garage or a little more street cred then this Gixxer is a definite buy.
