The Watch Journey
The Watch Journey

I like to try different things on this website every so often in terms of content changes. After all there is more to life than motorcycles and related automotive interests. So this week I have started a new series of posts on my new wrist watch shopping journey.

I’m officially over the ‘smart watch’ trend. Yes – they have many useful features but I concluded after owing many different models over 16 years (I started young), only those related to monitoring health are remain useful. Yo see, like most people the mobile phone is rarely out of my reach so any other smart watch function is just another screen to charge and more money spent for no reason. That said,  Fitness bands are more useful to monitor health stats but no one in 2024 truly needs to wear one every hour of everyday unless you have OCD which no smartwatch or fitness band can diagnose you with. Since most people including me don’t have any life threating issues to keep an active eye on let alone 24 hours a day every day a fitness band is not an essential piece of tech.

I have tried doing tech reviews over the years on the gear but I never found writing them not satisfying to write or adding value. For example: After not having a spare set of earphones I when shopping for the cheapest wireless headphones I found our that most you don’t care about the cheapest high fidelity ear phones because you are deaf from loud exhausts and wind rush over the years. :-) And the conclusion to whether a product is good, bad or indifferent is dependent on your personal preference and situation.

Still with me? Welcome to the first post my watch shopping journey! The answer to your first question, why on earth do I want a wrist watch in 2024? It’s a combination of wanting to know what the time is, fidget gadget, token of the past and a fashion statement. The next question you probably want to know the answer to is: why do I want to write and share this particular journey? A break from motorcycle journey. I also wanted to leave a break before announcing the choice of my new motorcycle.
