Historical Price of petrol in Australia – 2010

Blast from the Past! – Reposting scattered content from 2008 – Price of unleaded petrol in Australia. Location is mostly around Victoria Australia. (Note that is is my personal record, nothing to do with official statistics.) I should add from now on that this is price for 91 Octane unleaded NOT the higher 95 octane or above.

January 2010 – I paid $1.27 per litre this month.

February 2010 – The price of petrol has been surprising over the last few weeks. I paid around $1.19 per litre this month.

March 2010 – The price of petrol has been surprising over the last few weeks. I paid around $1.29 per litre this month. Bearing in mind that Easter had just fallen on the last weekend of March the price rose to an average of $1.37 – I saw during my travels on the long weekend.

April 2010 – The price of petrol has been rising over the last few weeks. I paid around $1.36 per litre this month. I can still remember just over 10 years ago when the petrol bill was only $20 for a week and a bit for the car!

May 2010 – The price of petrol has been rising over the last few weeks. I paid around $1.26 per litre this month. The prices varied quite a bit this month – from $1.37 downwards to to as low as $1.21

June 2010 – A bit late posting June’s price cause I’ve been really busy! I paid around $1.28 per litre this month. I try to fill up on the ‘cheap’ days.

July 2010 – Not recorded.

August 2010 – I paid around $1.21 per litre this month. The price has has been noticeably lower than in the prior month and the cheap days have changed too! I think its much more convenient filling up at the end of the week.

September 2010 – I paid around $1.19 per litre this month. The price of regular unleaded petrol has definitely been trending lower over the last few months but my own usage has not increased.  I’ve been walking and certainly driving in a more fuel efficient way!

October 2010 – I paid around $1.20 per litre this month. The fact that the Aust dollar is valued as much as the US dollar has had no impact on petrol pricing again confirms the general opinion that we are being ripped off again!

The price of regular unleaded petrol has definitely been trending lower over the last few months but my own usage has not increased.  I’ve been taking the train and certainly driving in a more fuel efficient way!

November 2010 – Not recorded.

December 2010 -I paid around $1.25 per litre this month. The peak price I saw was about $1.40 pre-Christmas for 91 Octane. Premium unleaded was as high as $1.50 at some service stations.
