Kawasaki ZX-14R Limited Edition

Kawasaki ZX-14R Limited Edition (2014)

Welcome to the updated ZX-14R Limited Edition. It’s not a ride report because I haven’t ridden the updated model only the prior model, which incidentally one of the few motorcycle I actually would’t mind in the garage! (Note that I still regard the ZX12R series as a underwhelming model)

The latest limited edition colour scheme for the 30th Anniversary called Firecracker Red/Metallic Graystone is a seeming retro one that I remember graced the original Ninja 900 and ZX10s in the 80’s GPX and on the ZX-14 looks equally memorable right down to the gold badging.  There’s also the Golden Blazed Green and Metallic Spark Black colour scheme of the same series if your interested!

It was really good PR move until they said it was the fastest most powerful production motorcycle. The speed wars are over, they are all top speed limited for obvious reasons and Kawasaki lost. (De-limiting is not production) However thanks to traction control any ZX14R can do great 1/4 mile times only dreamed of in super cars. As a side point and interestingly, the latest trend is cafe racers and retro styling thanks to the growing hipster brigade. The trend has got nothing to do with power or speed but predominantly design, its appeal is much more mass market friendly and much easier to sell!

Anyway the latest ZX-14R in this colour scheme looks great, so go for it and hopefully it’s a good one too!
