Price of Petrol in October 2019

priceofpetrolThe price of petrol I paid during October 2019 averaged $1.68 per litre for 91 Octane unleaded petrol add up to 15 cents more for 95 Octane petrol and usually up to 25 cents for 98 Octane petrol, location is Melbourne Australia.

The price increase was expected but considering that the damaged oil production facility was back on line in 6 days the 3 weeks of high prices is clearly unjustified. Again, the pricing is deep in rip off territory and really needs government intervention. The threat of bureaucracy in Australia is the only way to get fair pricing for consumers and put the oil companies and fuel stations in check.

The last time I looked diesel was still priced around $1.60 per litre which is still quite expensive compared to unleaded but at least it is consistent.

Note that fuel prices vary according to area, the level of competition and a whole heap of other factors like shopping discounts and so forth, however unreasonable high prices (relative to crude oil prices) is greed. Also note that the Octane level I post here represents Australian measurement which is different from those in other countries eg. US.
