Kawasaki KLX250S review
The Kawasaki KLX250S is another motorcycle to add to your shopping list for a learner or a commuter motorcycle but it is conditional. It’s like the Honda CRF250L and the WR250R being a dual-purpose motorcycle for road and off-road use. Thanks to it’s origins as with any motorcycle in this class it has the benefit of being quite durable since they have to handle tough terrain and requisite falling over in a variety of conditions.
The Kawasaki KLX has been around for years still looks good thanks to some cosmetic and clear a good bike up to a few years ago. However the KLX250S biggest problem and weakness is that it still uses carbs! Yes – in 2015 and for a motorcycle costing this much it is MISSING electronic fuel injection and costs more than the competition! This means it literally drops off my desirability and recommended list and should for you too!
If you can ignore the KLX250S lack of EFI (which I bet you regret it when it rains, cold or hot and can’t start the engine) was designed as off road motorcycle in the first place so the key features as I see it, of high ground clearance, light weight, plank like seats and no wind protection means that long distance touring is for people who are reasonably healthy. I realise the key decision for not even considering this model off is very specific but there is no legitimate excuse for under specifying a motorcycle except for insulting the intelligence of possible owners.
In the end a new Kawasaki KLX250S is not expensive it is plain rip off the last time I checked. If it costed significantly under its competitors that would have saved it but at more expensive the the CRF250 and without EFI it is WTF zone. It is not better than the competition so I can’t recommend this motorcycle at all for commuters or learners in 2015. Until the KLX250is priced as it spec indicate e.g., under $6000 RRP go for the Honda, Yamaha or even the KLR65 – I repeat again that this post is for learners and commuters riders not off road riders…
