Driving on Australian roads

Due to long weekend I decided to take road trip. As a result it has completely re-enforced the view that speeding (aka above the speed limit) is NOT the cause of accidents and problems on the road. It is the actual notion and PR surrounding speed along with certain attitudes by drivers that are the real problems. I’m not a ‘perfect driver or rider’ and I do make mistakes but certainly not deliberately like what most people I observed seem to do these days. You can argue that it is just a few but after seeing it time and time again points out to something more insidious.

The dangerous ones are those whose pure ego dictate that they are going the appropriate speed be it varying wildy but really causing traffic jams and claim ‘tail gating’ by others when really its because their motor skills, ego and their speedos are defective. These happen to be the same ones who also happy to really speed though construction zones where there are actually people working and those who prevent others from overtaking by speeding up. Their final and dangerous attitude includes the inability to slow down and cut into much larger trucks and motorcycles and then slowing down! This seems to be the normal attitude these days.

I recommend a change to simplistic and clearly not effective ‘speeding’ focus and towards fixing driving attitude.
