2014 Kawasaki H2 & H2R

Kawasaki has released details of a two possibly new landmark models this week! It happens to be the first model that I have got some emotion for at first sight. Where as the Italian brands have been sort of dishing out very similar designs, most of the Japanese manufacturers sort of going round in circles then with BMW copying the Japanese they now look very much the same same to non-motorcyclists. Kawasaki have once again shown the way with a gorgeous trellis frame, futuristic body work and top end specs.

Welcome to the Kawasaki H2R race/track version and the road going H2 NinjA. Essentially these models will be replacement for the ZX-10 sports bike we all know but aren’t really buying. The H2R is the non-road version while the H2 Ninja is for the rest of us.  The new H2 series is not a replacement for the ZX-14 for obvious reasons but a catchup the 1000cc sport s bikes from Yamaha, Suzuki, BMW and the other brands.

The major selling points of the H2 and H2R are it’s huge power output, futuristic fairing and equally cool chassis design, a real supercharger and my favourite the fantastic colour! It is hard to describe but lets say it ‘changes colour’ and looks like what paint work should look like in 2014! Must be seem in real life to appreciated.

Only thing that needs to be considered is the use the historically important (to Kawasaki) H2, something more adventurous would be have been nice. You see very few in the age group will even remember the original H2 and most older folk will probably have trouble fitting it. I love the design although not sure how any sponsorship scheme will work on the H2. It’s not love at first sight but a modern and very good looking bike.

Based on specifications the the 200bhp engine with a real super charger, high tech suspension and tech bodywork will certainly be a new model to watch however the higher than expected price tag may give you second thoughts.

Regardless I’ll have an Instagram image set on some more historic Kawasaki motorcycles very soon.
