Yamaha TTR230
Yamaha TT-R 230

Welcome to the Yamaha TT-R 230 motorcycle specifications and showroom review for 2021. The TTR230 is marketed as an entry level trail motorbike for fun and competition and interestingly also an AG bike. Yamaha has a few models in the class already but in this spec it’s not quite the same. The TT-R230 is not road legal or LAMS so limits it’s appeal.

In terms of looks the TT-R230 looks like a typical trail motorcycle made in the last 20 years. It’s relatively simple design means any damage should be easily fixed and hence fit for purpose. However to be completely honest it doesn’t impress in the area of showroom in presentation.

In terms of engine and technology the TT-R230 is very basic. The carbureted single cylinder engine is a relatively modern version from the 2000’s I think? There are no instruments and a drum brake. The price is just as inspiring…

Is the Yamaha TT-R230 worth buying? To me the TT-R230 is overpriced and under specified in 2021. There are better motorbikes the cost slightly less and some a little more with much better specifications.  However I may be missing something..

As a result the Yamaha TT-R230 is the 5th most popular and best selling trail motorcycle in Australia 2019 selling 300 units. This sales number is down from 388 in 2018.
