Update of 23/06/2002  This week is all about statistics. I’ve beening reading in the NSW papers that NSW Govt is considering raising the 250cc restriction on learner riders to 660cc.

It appears that the road accidents and fatalities for new riders and under 30 yrs old has dropped markedly. Not surprising due to the rider training a new rider has to go through before getting their licenses. Unfortunately the stats for riders over 30 esp. 40 have risen. Again not surprising due to the ability of older riders to avoid some of the learner restrictions. So new older riders be careful out there. But the big question I reckon is : Is it the rider training AND the 250cc limit doing their job OR is it the rider training by its self ? Will raising the cc limitation mean a rise in deaths for the under 30s again ?

May the Stats be with you.
