Kawasaki KLX150F – KLX150BF

Welcome to the Kawasaki KLX150F motorcycle specifications and showroom review for 2021. The Kawasaki KLX150F otherwise known as the KLX150BF is another trail motorbike you can buy in 2021. It is a relatively new model first released in 2015. Not sure why but presumably to compete with other 150-250cc and entry level trail motorbikes like the Honda XR150L – no doubt.

In terms of looks the Kawasaki KLX150BF is a bit odd especially if not in the Kawasaki green colour scheme. It resembles a older motorbike that has been given a face lift. In fact it looks like the Suzuki DR-Z series… with smaller fairings. Nonetheless it does looks like a real off roader rather than a dual purpose and arguably better looking than the Honda arch rival – which no doubt helps sales.

In terms of engines and technology the KLX150F is best described a basic. It has a carbureted engine with analogue gauges and standard filament bulbs presumably in an effort to keep costs down. However it has been given USD forks and a modern rear swing arm that makes the KLX150 look better than it should. Approximate power figures are not impressive, a Honda GROM probably has better performance? The biggest problem with the KLX150 is that it is missing EFI. However given it’s spec it is no surprise that the KLX250 is also LAMS or learner compliant.

In the end a new Kawasaki KLX150F is one of the cheapest trail motorbikes or any motorbike you can buy. Sure it is missing electronic fuel injection so anyone considering buying one will need to take less than 100% starting and learn to use the choke. It’s an unexpected feature and could be interpreted character building for KLX150 owners.

As a result the Kawasaki KLX150F – KLX150BF is 6th most popular and best selling Trail motorbike in Australia 2019 selling 250 units. This sales number is down from 348 in 2018.
