CFMOTO 150NK

One of the less known brands is CF Moto in Australia and else where in the world except for China it’s home market. The manufacturer has been around since 2009 and has targeted the learner and commuter motorcycle market since all it’s models are in this class. This week I’m checking out the manufacturer’s cheapest motorcycle the 2017 CF MOTO NK150.

The CFMOTO NK150 is a decent looking little little motorcycle priced under $3500 or rounded to about $4000 on the road. There are very few models in the sub-150cc class can match that sort of pricing and more to the point have the sort of quality of materials, even the welds look half decent. Design details include a frame matching rear swing arm and pattern disc brakes. It also features EFi fuelling with 2 modes and USD front suspension which is unique to the class.

I like the look and feel of the NK150 as it’s modern and Euro/Japanese in looks thanks to the exposed trellis frame. Sure the overall design doesn’t exactly push the envelope but it’s parts do. Does it mean it’s the best in class? or It’s pricing suggest a throw away bike after 3 or 4 years? I don’t really know as there aren’t many riding about at the moment but based on showroom and spec it would be a decent learner and commuter if reliability holds up. Based on what I saw, I do believe their published company PR and aim to have a quality approach to manufacturing their own branded motorcycles which is unique for a Chinese manufacturer so far. The build is indistinguishable to any other more expensive bike.  That said the standard 2 year warranty is odd for a new ‘brand’ why not 3 to give the others something to really consider!

Would I buy and 150NK? Maybe if I wanted a good looking cheap new motorcycle and lived within 5 kms of where my life revolves and never need to go on the freeway but I also like the Honda Grom.
