Yamaha MT-09 Tracer

The recently released Yamaha MT-09 Tracer has just got my attention! The Tracer can be described as a supermotard in looks but since it’s based on the MT-09 road bike it’s more like the adventure/tourer from any number of manufacturers. Why did this bike get my attention? Simple – the MT-09 Tracer looks great in real life. Pictures over the internet and even in the brochures do not convey how the design captives and when you think it’s pretty cool there’s even more surprises!

The MT-09 Tracer is currently (2015) and arguably the best looking of the Yamaha motorcycle range. In the flesh the design just works so well together in fact it’s quite striking. It uses very similar design themes as per the newly released Kawasaki H2. Makes me wonder if the designers are the same person or team? If the motorcycle’s design is what gets you then you must check out this bike in real life!

As far a technicalities go it uses the same engine from the MT-09 so you get the latest Cross-plane engine and other bits – all state of the art. Just when you get over what a good looking bike it is, you then check out the rally or race inspired all digital instruments, electronic options, sports bike rear swing arm  etc.. you get the drift – as they say demands respect!

The recommended retail price for the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer in Australia is $14,990 is OK for a new release 850cc motorcycle but uncomfortably higher than the regular MT-09 road version.  It leaps over the current design themes used by the Japanese and Euro manufacturers like BMW or Ducati and when viewed side but side the Tracer just as good or better. Check it out for your self.
